Meet S3 — Khalil, Sourcing Leader
Here at S3, our ability to deliver outstanding results starts with our team of highly trained experts. We come from a diverse set of backgrounds, countries and experiences combining an impressive amount of aerospace experience. We want to give you the opportunity to not only work with us, but also get to know us better.
What is your position/title and how long you’ve worked at S3? I am currently a sourcing leader and have been with S3 since April. What is your background relevant to your work now? This is my first exposure to military aerospace and defense, but growing up overseas, along with my inherent interest in politics, militaries, and global affairs — has made my transition into S3 a smoother one. What is a typical work day like for you? I typically review some of the parts and requirements that our customers are looking for and try to source those items from the manufacturers or distributors. I like to exercise midday in order to break up my work day. What is your favorite part of your job? I enjoy being exposed to the diverse clientele that we work with. Also, the industry itself is always changing and exciting. My coworkers are all fun and make the work environment positive and productive. What is it like working for S3? S3 is a growing company which allows for employees to wear multiple hats and get to know the specifics of the business and how each department interacts with the rest. Being in direct contact with management is also great for quicker communication and knowledge about the industry. What are the challenges you face in your position? Managing the specific requirements that each customer holds. I have to understand the platforms, their internal politics, financial capabilities and cultural norms while interacting with each customer. What are your strengths in correlation to your job? Some of my strengths are interpersonal skills and knowledge of other languages. This is important in such a diverse and multinational company. I also have great enthusiasm for aerospace and defense in general which, in turn, drives me to learn as much as possible about the industry.
What do you enjoy outside of work/hobbies?
I love to work out and when I’m not at S3, I teach indoor cycling classes. I also like to play basketball, explore new cities and towns and try new restaurants.
