S3 International Receives Presidential Award for Export Successes
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 16th, 2016 — U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today presented S3 International with the President’s “E” Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, DC. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.
“S3 International has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The “E” Awards Committee was very impressed with S3 International’s utilization of multiple export markets to support growth and stability for the company. The company’s development of a business model that relies almost exclusively on exports was also particularly notable. S3 International’s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs.” said Secretary Pritzker in her congratulatory letter to the company announcing its selection as an award recipient.
Established in 2005 and headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, our group of companies — S3 International, S3 Repair Services and S3 Brasil - Serviços de Manutenção Aeronáutica Ltda. — provide aircraft spare parts distribution, repair and overhaul services and program management solutions to military and commercial aerospace customers around the world.
“Exporting has been and continues to be a critical growth factor in our business. Exporting has allowed us to successfully grow our business over the last eleven years, which has enabled us to create jobs in our local community,” said Aksel Sidem, General Manager of S3 International. “We are thrilled and honored to receive the President's “E” Award. It is very rewarding for every one of us at S3 International to be recognized for the hard work accomplished over the past years. We congratulate the U.S. Commercial Service for coordinating this prestigious event every year and for recognizing the contribution companies such as S3 International have made to increasing American exports.”
In 1961, President Kennedy signed an executive order reviving the World War II “E” symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America's exporters. Today, Secretary Pritzker honored 123 U.S. companies with the President’s “E” Award for their outstanding work to reduce barriers to foreign markets and to open the door to more trade around the world.
In 2015, U.S. exports totaled $2.23 trillion, accounting for nearly 13 percent of U.S. GDP. Nationally, exports contributed to the U.S. economy, supporting an estimated 11.5 million jobs.
U.S. companies are nominated for the “E” Awards through the Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service office network, located within the Department’s International Trade Administration, with offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries. Record years of successive export growth and an applicant’s demonstration of an innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in exports is a significant factor in selecting the winners.
